TOLEDO, Ohio, Jan. 8, 2013 - The Toledo Classic, Inc. Board of Trustees announced today that Marathon Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: MPC) has become the new title sponsor of the annual LPGA tournament held at Highland Meadows Golf Club. The new name of the tournament will be the Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning & O-I.
As a result of Marathon’s title sponsorship, the tournament will return to television in 2013 with all four rounds to be televised on The Golf Channel. This year’s tournament will be held July 15-21 at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio with a purse of $1.3 million and will mark the 28th anniversary of the event. To date, the tournament has contributed $7.75 million to more than 100 children’s charities in northwest Ohio and southeastern Michigan.
